RICS Americas Personal Property Summit Conference


The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS Americas) has announced the personal property program for their upcoming conference in Toronto (Westin Harbour Castle Hotel), May 4-6.

The Summit of Americas conference is a multi-discipline appraisal conference with sessions for personal property, business valuation, real estate, development, facilities and asset management and infra structure and construction. According to the personal property press release registration for the full conference is $995.00 or $495.00 for the personal property program day.

RICS Americas Announces Personal Property Program for Summit Conference
Toronto: May 4-6, 2014

On May 5th, 2014, RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) is holding its first Personal Property conference day at the annual international Summit conference. The conference site is at The Westin Harbor Castle Hotel, Toronto. The Personal Property day features a stellar program concerning topics important to all appraisers of fine art, decorative arts and other luxury goods. There will be multiple panel discussions. Panel topics include: Aspects of the Growing Market; Art Fraud – A Growing Problem; and Art and Alternative Property as Asset Classes in the Luxury Goods Market. Panel members and speakers have been selected for their expertise and ability to provide in-depth commentary on the most current issues.

From the legal viewpoint, attorney panel participants include Aaron Milrad (Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP); Ronald Spencer Carter Ledyard & Milburn PC); John Cahill (Cahill Partners LLP); and Jo Backer Laird (Patterson Belnap Webb & Tyler LLP). Panel participants/speakers who will be discussing non-legal issues regarding various topics include Michael Moses (Beautiful Asset Advisors), Marion Maneker (The Art Compliance Company/Art and Antiques), Judy Pearson (ARIS), Stephen P. Sweeting (Appraisal Associates-Toronto, Rupert Banner (Auctioneer and Car Specialist – Bonhams), Duncan Parker: Vice President Dupuis Fine Jewellery Auctioneers – Toronto, Kathryn Tully (Forbes Magazine), and Alan Fausel (Vice President and Director of Fine Arts (Bonhams, NY).
