Dali Authentication Conference

The Art Newspaper reports on an upcoming confernce on the authentication of works of art, and to combat forgery through court proceedings is being organized by the Gala Salvador Dali foundation for June 19-21. Given the amount of fakes and misrepresentations of Dali art works, the conference is certainly a step in the right direction and greatly needed.

A subject close to the heart of Dalí collectors, dealers and the general secretary of the Dalí foundation, Luís Peñuelas, will be the authentication of editions of sculpture and works on paper, with Judith Goldman, a member of the Andy Warhol Art Authentication Board, among the speakers.

The conference, in Catalonia close to Dalí’s summer home and museum, is sponsored by the Prosegur Foundation and the municipality of Girona, in association with the law firm Roca Junyent Associates. For more information, go to www.salvador-dali.org.
