Artnet Dec Arts Database Offers Free Trial

Occasionally I get offers from vendors about products which are useful to appraisers.  I always enjoy passing along a good deal, especially if there is a free trial.

I was recently contacted by a representative of Artnet about a free, five day trial of the Artnet Price Database for Decorative Arts.

I have tried the database and can say it has an excellent selection of property and auction houses, large numbers of items, excellent search and filtering options as well as carrying high quality dec arts.  The database is excellent if you are searching for dec arts which are of high quality, where you dont have to sort through pages of lower level, poor condition property.  Keep in mind, this is a dec arts database (antiques, furniture, rugs, clocks, ceramics, silver, etc).

The screen capture below shows portions of a results page, where I had searched under American Furniture with keywords, Federal, sideboard and mahogany.  The database returned 351 results of quality Federal sideboards sold at auction (click on the image to enlarge).  Each listed item is then clickable for additional details.  If you are looking to keep a large number of items which were viewed in a workfile, it is easy to print the search page, and then print out the individual detail of select property for individual comps.

It is well worth trying out for the 5 day period.  The complimentary five day trial expires on September 30th.
