Last week in London Christie's sold a ceramic vase by Pablo Picasso for a record price of $1.53 million. The vase, from 1950 titled Grand Vase aux Femmes Voiles had a pre-sale estimate of between $386,000 and $541,000.

The 1950 Grand Vase aux Femmes Voiles was bought by an anonymous bidder at Christie's auction house in King Street, central London.
The piece reached £980,275 at the impressionist and modern art sale, despite a pre-auction estimate of just £250,000-£350,000.
It is a partially glazed terracotta vase, measuring 64.1cm.
