AQB Personal Property Appraiser Qualification Criteria Release
Back in March, at the International Society of Appraisers annual conference in Philadelphia, Appraisal Foundation President Dave Bunton announced the Appraisal Qualifications Board had just approved the new Personal Property Appraiser Qualification Criteria. We had seen numerous exposure drafts, and at times the TAFAC debate on proposed criteria went beyond lively to contentious. In any event, the new criteria was adopted and is now scheduled to become effective on January 1, 2018.
Keep in mind sponsoring personal property organizations of the Appraisal Foundation will need to follow the new criteria. This includes members of the International Society of Appraisers (ISA), the Appraisers Association of America (AAA), and the American Society of Appraisers (ASA). If you are an independent appraiser or belong to another appraisal organizaitons, the guidelines are optional, but recommended by the AF.
The Appraisal Foundation just published a new brochure on the new educational criteria. I recommend all appraisers download and review, and be prepared for implementation in January of 2018.
