I have posted in the recent past on the upcoming ISA Annual Conference, Assets 2018 being held March 9-12, 2018 in Pasadena California. There is an excellent program, and I am proud of being one of the presenters, along with fellow ISA CAPP Cindy Charleston Rosenberg.
Our presentation is called Beyond Readily Apparent Identity, and the program description is "As object identification and authentication grow ever more significant in developing credible appraisal conclusions, the proper application and use of the Readily Apparent Identity disclaimer becomes more of a challenge for appraisers. This presentation will explore the potential benefits and hazards of using Readily Apparent Identity disclaimers for both fine and decorative arts appraisals, and how to go further when required."
We will be discussing Readily Apparent Identity disclaimers within the context of appraiser research, while examining differing opinions, expert opinions, forensic testing results and changing scholarship, all with varying degrees of due diligence regarding appropriate identification, authentication and attributions. I am really pleased with the way the presentation material has been developed and should make for an interesting presentation. We only wish we had more time for the program.
Cindy and I are presenting on Sunday morning at 9:00 am in a general session to the full conference. Cindy will be discussing RAI disclaimers for fine art, and I will focus my portion of the presentation on fine furniture.
This ISA Conference, like all in the recent past has a fantastic program, with many professional presentations from experts and specialist in allied fields. If you are serious about the appraising profession, the ISA annual conference is not one to miss. Among the location, excellent program and program speakers, education events, tours, networking and social activity, the ISA Annual Conference, Assets 2018 should be on the top of all appraisers lists of events to attend in 2018.
Since so many appraisal conferences take place on the east coast, having one in California is a great opportunity for all West Coast appraisers to attend a large annual appraisal conference to network, meet and interact with some of the best appraisers in the profession. If you are new to appraising, or are an accomplished appraiser, the ISA Annual Conference is always an event which is well worth attending.
