TAFAC Meeting

I hope everyone has been reading the ValueMyStuff/ArtTactic valuations and appraisal report. Please send you thoughts and comments. I was a TAFAC (The Appraisal Foundation Advisory Council) meeting today and few appraisers made some comments, mostly concerning. So I would like to hear more from the profession. Link to the free report is https://www.valuemystuff.com/us/report . Please pass along any comments on the report to me.

I chair the Personal Property Issues Committee of TAFAC and we had an excellent meeting today.  The committee is really starting to come together and is becoming much more involved in Appraisal Foundation issues. I was pleased to see Appraisal Foundation President Dave Bunton and Appraisal Standards Board Chair Margaret Hambleton attend our committee meeting.  We are making great progress in representing personal property appraisers, and with  AAA Executive Director Linda Selvin now serving as TAFAC Vice Chair, Cindy Rosenber gsoon to be seated on the AF Board of Trustees  and my contributions on the TAFAC PPIC we should expect stronger contributions and diverse voices from personal property appraises at the Appraisal Foundation

Today we discussed:
  • Former ISA President Cindy Charleston Rosenberg has been appointed to the Appraisal Foundation Board of Trustees. There were over 60 applicants for only a few seats, and from I gather, not surprising, Cindy was extremely impressive throughout the nomination and selection process.
  • We hope to work closer with the AF Personal Property Resource Panel, so each committee has a better idea of the others activities
  • Prepare comments for the Appraisal Standards Board on the first exposure draft of USPAP 2020/2021. (To read the 1st exposure draft click HERE)
  • Develop a TAFAC PPIC working group to develop personal property case studies for both the 15 hour USPAP class and the 7 hour update class
  • Continue to work with the AF in developing further outreach programs regarding USPAP and appraiser qualification criteria
Overall a very production meeting.
