The Association for Research into Crimes Against Art (ARCA) is now offering a masters of arts program International Art Crimes Studies. The program will be in Umbri, Italy, starts on May 25th, 2009 and applications are due by December 1, 2008. For those of you interested in Art Crime education, the ARCA is an interesting site to visit.
The ARAC website states This program will provide in-depth instruction in a wide variety of theoretical and practical elements of art crime: its history, its nature, its impact, and what can be done to curb it. Courses are taught by international experts, in the beautiful setting of Umbri, Italy. Topics include art history and the art trade, museums and conservation, art security and policing, criminology and criminal investigation, law and policy,and the study of art theft, antiquities looting, war looting,forgery and deception, vandalism, and cultural heritage protection throughout history and around the world. It is the idea program for art police and security professionals, art lawyers, insurers, and curators, members of the art trade and post-graduate students of criminology, law, security studies, sociology, art history,archaeology, and history.
In the past on the AW Blog I have posted on the growing interest of international law enforcement and art crimes. The FBI Art Crime Team has been very active. Greg Horner of the FBI Art Crime Team will be speaking in March 2009 at the ISA Annual Conference in Charleston, SC.

The ARCA Program in Art Crime originally claimed to be a Masters program. Now it is called a Certificate program. They most certainly do not offer a Masters Degree--just something worth noting.
