Fine and Decorative Arts Confidence Survey Results

I have complied the responses to the 3rd quarter Appraiser Workshops Fine and Decorative Arts Market Confidence Survey.  I am very pleased with the survey results and participation.  I believe the results will be useful to many appraisers as they discuss market trends with clients and prepare market analysis for appraisal reports. Given the participation of the survey from so many experts and appraisers, I plan on continuing  to poll Appraiser Workshops readers and fellow appraisers on a quarterly basis.

As the survey grows and expands I plan on tracking the confidence levels and trends in the various sectors over time.  This should be a very useful tool for appraisers to refer to both as a snapshot for the quarter, trending of confidence levels over time and future expectations.

The survey seeks a confidence level of positive, negative or neutral in the following market sectors from professional appraisers.
  • Fine Art - Upper and Middle Markets
  • Asian Art - Upper and Middle Markets
  • Furniture and Decorative Arts - Upper and Middle Markets
  • Luxury Goods
  • Household Contents
  • Ancient and Ethnographic Arts - Upper and Middle Markets
  • Textiles - Upper and Middle Markets
  • Silver - Upper and Middle Markets
  • Future Expectations Fine Art - Upper and Middle Markets
  • Future Expectations Furniture and Decorative Arts - Upper and Middle Markets

The file is a PDF, and has graphs and percentages for the above listed market sectors. Look for the 4th quarter survey questionnaire in early January, 2011, with results and trend tracking shortly thereafter.
