I have been traveling over this Thanksgiving holiday and needed a filler post, so I thought some news on the upcoming edition of the Journal of Advanced Appraisal Studies would work (this will be the fourth). I am now putting together the master document for the 2011 edition which will be published in February. The publisher, the
Foundation for Appraisal Education will host a party on Friday evening at the International Society of Appraisers annual conference in Nashville. We have had these journal kick-off parties at the ISA conference each year since the Journal has been published.
The 2011 edition will have many great articles by some excellent authors. Katherine Jentleson the Director of Analytics at Art Research Technologies writes on the market for Grandma Moses. This article is a great complement to the ISA Conference which is being held during the Heart of Country antique show in Nashville. Other topics and contributions include
- how to examine an antique painting
- the seniors market
- colonial New York Limners
- selling appraisal services and products
- online branding
- hippie culture
- appraising textiles
- art forgery
- infrared imagining
- Qianlong marks
- coins and the precious metals market
- antique carriages
- appraising an art or science
- FMV appraisals
- dealing with difficult clients
- the competency rule
- auction bidding programs
- provenance
All appraisers should have every copy of this great resource in their library. click
