Survey Results

The response and downloads of the Appraiser Workshops Fine and Decorative Arts Market Confidence Survey has been very positive.  If you have not downloaded the free survey results, I certainly encourage all AW Blog readers to do so. Click HERE to download the survey results.

The results can be very useful when discussing current market trends and for writing a market analysis for an appraisal report.  Many times we dont have much information to document market trends, this survey, completed by appraisers, auction house specialists and dealers is a tool that can be used to document market confidence and trends in a multitude of fine and decorative art sectors.

For instance the 3rd quarter Fine and Decorative Arts Market Confidence Survey reveals a negative confidence level in the middle market of furniture and decorative arts.  63.2% of the respondent had a negative confidence level in the sector, while only 10.4% revealed a positive confidence level and 26.4% of those surveyed were neutral.  (for a larger view of the graph just click on the image of the graph)

On the other hand, the upper market for silver is very strong according to the Fine and Decorative Arts Market Survey, with 71.17% of those responding having a positive confidence level in the sector, with 29.36 being negative and 28.44 being neutral.

In early January and future quarters I will send out new surveys and then start to analyze and trend the data where appraisers will be able to see the changes in confidence levels over a period of time.
