ASA Personal Property Conference

Fellow appraiser and friend Soodie Beasley, AAA, ASA sent me a reminder about the ASA annual conference being held in Santa Fe, NM on March 10-13, 2019. From what I understand this will be the last stand alone personal property conference from ASA before merging with its multi-discipline annual conference.

The registration information is

Cost:

  • Early Registration (Before 1/20/2019), $550 Member, $650 Non-Member
  • Standard Registration, $650 Member, $750 Non-Member, $350 Student
  •  (ASA member rate will be honored for the following compeer organizations: AAA, ISA, SAA.)
  •  Where: La Fonda on the Plaza 100 E San Francisco St., Santa Fe, NM 87501

ASA states about the conference, "The two and a half-day conference provides hard-to-obtain insights into market arenas that personal property appraisers confront regularly in their appraisal practice. EXPLORING MARKETS will connect appraisers with experts, scholars, and allied professionals across North America."

The speaker lists includes some excellent speakers and topics, from Marion Maneker of the Art Market Monitor on the art market, to Alsdair Nichol of Freeman's Auction, IRS appraisers and Soodie Beasley speaking on  Decorative Art Markets –Identification:  Attributions and Misattributions. Soodie is an expert on 20th century furniture as well as important women designers of the 20th century. Look for more from Soodie in the spring when she will also be presenting a webinar on the importance of 20th century women designers.
