Off to the AAA Conference and NYC

I leave Saturday morning to NYC and the AAA annual conference. I will try to post some while there if time allows.  I am looking forward to several programs at AAA, including Trends and Transitions in the Art Market followed by a panel discussion on The Landscape of the 2018 Art Market, the Middle Market: Art Auction Case Studies, and programs on scientific analysis, and do museums set trends in the art market.

Also, the conference has a presentation called Mass Appraisals, Sampling & Blockage. The presentation description states "This session will focus on differences between USPAP Standard 5 (Mass Appraisal, Development) and Standard 7 (Personal Property Appraisal, Development). There will also be a discussion of factors and methods to consider when conducting a sampling or to determine a blockage discount."

I am particularly interested in this presentation and discussion as we have had several discussions on the topic within the Appraisal Foundation Personal Property Issues Committee. There seems to be some confusion, and I look for some clarifications and further explanations on this topic.

Hopefully I will also find the time to enjoy New York, get to the Met and the Chippendale exhibit and some other sites of interest.

I look hope to see many old friends and meeting new appraisers. If you are heading to the conference, I look forward to seeing you there.
